This article provides a comparative review of the rules and principles on the formation of a contract of sale of goods, specifically relating to the subject matter (object) and consideration (cause) in three international legal instruments namely; the OHADA Uniform Act on General Commercial Law, CISG and the UNIDROIT 2010 Principles of International Commercial Contracts. The fact that these legal systems are different and varied, the practical success of these international instruments remains dependent upon several factors, mainly the extent to which contracting parties in a contract of sale of goods and national judges can best understand these rules and the methodology through which such rules are being implemented in the national courts. Thus, this paper highlights some points of compromise and divergence between the different regimes and concludes with some remarks on the recent trend in the area of the law concer
